Baking Away.....

Today I did some baking. First order of the day? Cinnamon rolls using a recipe found on Marie Madeline Studio blog. Boy, are they good. They are for breakfast tomorrow, but we just had to try one for a snack this evening. I was given rave reviews saying they taste like they are from a bakery. Which is always good news. =)

I also made some chocolate chip cookies using Lindsay's recipe on her blog. They are wonderful! Each batch I make turns out better then the last and taste even yummier.

What can I say, I used only recipes from blogs today. =) The only changes I made to both recipes is to use freshly ground spelt flour. We have a mostly gluten-free family, myself included, even though Spelt is apart of the wheat family we don't react to it. =) Believe me, they taste simply scrumptious made out of spelt flour. I am the type of girl who didn't use to like healthy foods. Mostly foods not made out of white flour. =) Now, I love healthy foods, including cookies and cinnamon rolls made out spelt flour.

Have any of you been baking lately?

Bramblewood Fashion's Modest Fashion Week

You are invited to join in our Modest Fashion Week October 10th - 16th! With fall weather coming soon, hopefully, it means we will be pulling out our boots, fingerless gloves, scarves, tights, and what not. To celebrate the coming of Fall weather and modesty we will be hosting our first "normal" fashion week, meaning you need no costumes. =)

Now all the little details about the event.

When is this wonderful event?
October 10th through the 16th. (Sunday - Saturday)

What is it all about?
Showcasing how we can dress modestly and fashionable in the Autumn weather.

How can I participate?
By posting photos of your outfits on your blog and linking them up here on Bramblewood Fashion daily.

What should I wear?

Besides keeping modesty and Fall weather in mind, the choices are endless and completely up to you. Be yourself and have fun!

Are there any rules?
I only have one rue. Make sure your outfit is modest and pleasing in God's eyes. If I find your outfit entry to be objective or suggestive I have the right to remove your link.

Other sidenotes:

Spread the word! Tell your friends and try to get them involved in this week. I have a HTML button for you all to use below, to help spread the word. Just copy and paste the HTML code. If you have any questions let me know. I will try to get back with you.

I would love to host some giveaways during the event week! If you would like to donate an item send me an email and we can talk. =)  You can reach me at: bramblewoodfashion (at) hotmail (dot) com

Today was rather warm, meaning I was hot in my boots and long-sleeves. But I didn't care as I love this new outfit combination. Out of all my printed skirts, this one has to be the most versatile. I have worn it many different ways - they are all featured on the blog here.

Didn't do much today. Went to work. Researched for some upcoming sewing projects. Went for a walk after dinner with my mom. I'm watching a baseball on TV right now. My team is winning - for now at least. =)   What did you all do today?

Latest Sewing Project - Purse/Bag

Purse/Bag 1

Sunday evening I created this purse/bag. I used a pattern that Gabrielle drafted for the bag part. And just cut pieces out for the inside pocket, handle, and the tabs that handle connects too.

Close-Up.

The fabric is from Joann Fabrics. While the button is vintage, made in Holland, and back in it's day cost 13 cents for three buttons on a card. Don't you wish that buttons still host this much? I know I do. I find that it is cheaper for me to buy vintage buttons, rather then modern buttons. How odd, but nice.

The handles

I still have fabric left over. So, I'm thinking of making one for our etsy shop. This bag is wonderful and holds spiral notebooks, sketchpads, books, and what-not. It evens has one handy pocket for your cell-phone. Hurray! No fishing for your phone when you need it! Hint, hint. ;-)

Pocket inside purse.

I'm thinking this purse will be my staple at conferences. Like the up-coming SAICFF.
