WIFD - Day 4

Here it is day 4 of WIFD. And I put together a new combination for today's outfit. As I usually don't wear this combination together. I'm not sure that I would wear the blouse again with this skirt. As the blouse is kinda like a tunic and looks best with my jeans. Maybe a pencil skirt would work better?

~What I'm Wearing~
Purple knit shrug - Made by me
White blouse/tunic - Vera Wang collection at Kohls
Jean wrap skirt - Made by me
Purple knee-high socks - Target
Black fashion boots - Bass Shoe Outlet

The shrug is a recent project as I just finished sewing it. I really like how it turned out and it was simple to sew using our serger. If you are wondering I used Simplicity #2560. I would highly recommend this pattern to anyone, as a beginner could easily sew this.

Country Tag!

I was tagged by Amanda over at Amanda's Journals for this fun tag. Thanks Amanda! :D

First off the rules:

1. Do a quick post about the person that tagged you saying thanks
2. Answer the 10 questions
3. Follow 3 new blogs and list them.
4. Tag 6 people
5. Challenge one person to do something fun or crazy

the 10 questions:

1: Have you ever been to a rodeo? Yes in a way at the Virginia State Fair years ago.

2: Have you ever tried to ride a cow? Nope.

3: Have you ever milked a cow or goat? No.

4: Have you ever been to a Demolition Derby? No.

5: What is your favorite Country song? Right now it is "He's No Good Son of a Gun" - I love the way Pat sings in this song.

b: Who's the artist? Sons of the Pioneers

6: Do you like to hunt? Never tried it. I'm not sure that I would like.

7: Have you ever cooked your breakfast over an open fire in your backyard? No.

8: Have you ever thought that the muck was shallow and when you stepped in it, you sank knee deep? I've sunk ankle deep in mud in a field behind our house with my brother. We also got suck in a pit, well my brother fell in and I tried to pull him out, I fell in and by the time we got out we were covered in mud. :-)

9: What is the hardest thing you have ever done? The JT400 treasure hunt. Fun times though! :D

10: (The question is optional) What's one of your most embarrassing moments? I can't think of one right now. Lucky me. :D

I challenge everyone to try something new today.

What kind of shoes go with skirts in the Winter?

In a recent comment I was asked the following:

Hi Ashley! I was just wondering... what kind of shoes do you wear with your skirts? It seems like I have a hard time finding shoes that 'pair' right with skirts (especially in the winter). Is there some miracle footwear out there that can keep your feet warm and still not ruin the delicate effect of the skirt? - Anna

Anna, has brought up an excellent question, as it is one that I used to struggle with. And I'm sure that there are others who struggle with the same problem. This post is for them, or for those who are just looking for ideas. =)

Finding shoes that look good with skirts can be had sometimes. When shopping for shoes you have to find a pair that matches the style of the skirt, and you have to consider the length of the skirt too. Let me show you some examples of what shoes Gabrielle and I wear with our skirts.

Cowgirl Boots (Children's Place)    Flats w/bow (MUDD Shoes)

Flats (Payless) T-Strap Heels (Naturalizers)

Fashion Boots (Bass Shoe Outfit)

I have put together a set on Polyvore of some shoes that would look great with skirts. Several of them either I or Gabrielle own and wear with our skirts.

These shoes are from Target and Payless - two great places to look for shoes.  I personally like to wear boots and wedges best in the winter. Boots are the warmest to wear in the winter as they help keep your legs warm. Plus boots look really cute with skirts. Just shop around trying on different styles of shoes, while wearing a skirt, to find one you like and feels warm to YOU.

I hope you all find this post helpful.
